Η προβολή θαυμάσιων Βυζαντινών Εικόνων και πανέμορφων Μοναστηριών έχει γίνει για τους Σκοπιανούς, ένας απο τους πιο διαδεδομένους τρόπους διαφήμισης της χώρας τους στο εξωτερικό. Με την διαρκώς αυξανόμενη και ανεξέλεγκτη προπαγάνδα έχουν καταφέρει να διαστρεβλώσουν και να οικειοποιηθούν την ιστορία αρκετών Ελληνικών Βυζαντινών Εικόνων και Μοναστηριών, προβάλοντας τα στο εξωτερικό σαν ένα έξοχο δείγμα “Μακεδονικής” τέχνης και… πολιτιστικής κληρονομιάς.
Έχουν φτάσει σε σημείο να σβήνουν Ελληνικές επιγραφές, να μετονομάζουν Εικόνες και Μοναστήρια απο τα αρχικά τους ονόματα και γενικά να σβήνουν οτιδήποτε προδίδει την Ελληνικότητα τους. Στα πλαίσια αυτής της αισχρής “οικειοποίησης”, όπως παρατηρείτε στο παραπάνω προπαγανδιστικό site, φτάνουμε στο σημείο ακόμα και ο Άγιος Ιωάννης ο Πρόδρομος να καταντάει… John the Forerunner (!!) ενώ ο Άγιος Δημήτριος μεταμορφώθηκε σε snt. Dimitar Solunski!!!
Ένα δείγμα της ευλαβικής “δουλειάς” των Σκοπιανών βρίσκουμε στο βιβλίο του Μιχάλη Χρυσανθόπουλου με τίτλο “Ο Ελληνισμός της “Δημοκρατίας των Σκοπίων” μέσα απο την τέχνη της Αγιογραφίας“
Όπως μας πληροφορεί ο συγγραφέας, η εικόνα έχει υποστεί σκόπιμες αλλιώσεις εξαφανίζοντας την Ελληνική επιγραφή στα αριστερά της εικόνας.
Χαρακτηριστικές είναι οι σχετικές επερωτήσεις Ελλήνων Βουλευτών και Ευρωβουλευτών, όπως οι παρακάτω:

Θεσσαλονίκη, 14.02.1999 (MΠΕ) Ερώτηση προς τους υπουργούς Εξωτερικών και Πολιτισμού σχετικά με την έκθεση βυζαντινών εικόνων προερχόμενων από μοναστήρια της ΠΓΔΜ, που εγκαινιάστηκε πρόσφατα στο Παρίσι, απευθύνουν οι βουλευτές Στέλιος Παπαθεμελής και Κώστας Μπαντουβάς.
Η γειτονική χώρα, κατά παράβαση του άρθρου 7 της ενδιάμεσης συμφωνίας διαστρέβλωσε και οικειοποιήθηκε την αναντίλεκτη ελληνική ταυτότητα των εικόνων που είναι αποτυπωμένη στις επιγραφές, καταγγέλλουν οι δύο βουλευτές σε ανακοίνωσή τους.
Οι κκ. Παπαθεμελής και Μπαντουβάς αναφέρονται επίσης στην αφιέρωση στο βιβλίο επισκεπτών του Γάλλου Προέδρου Ζακ Σιράκ, ο οποίος έγραψε: “Με μαρτυρία ευγνωμοσύνης, αναγνώρισης και εκτίμησης για τη Μακεδονία”. Απευθύνουν λοιπόν ερώτημα προς τους υπουργούς Εξωτερικών και Πολιτισμού αν προέβησαν σε κάποιες ενέργειες και διαβήματα για τα δύο αυτά περιστατικά.

Subject: Demolition of Greek historic building in FYROM
On 12 January 1999, the authorities in the town of Resna, FYROM, proceeded to demolish one of the most historic Greek monuments in that country. The Greek academy for boys, where Greek pupils from the Pelagonia region studied from as early as 1800 and where the great Greek teacher, Kosmas the Aetolian, taught was demolished (after cursory formalities) on the authority of the FYROM Ministry of Education.
This act is the latest in a number of provocative measures taken by the Skopje government against Greek cultural monuments in that country; recently (also in the town of Resna), the Greek inscriptions disappeared from the church of Ayios Georgios (built in 1842) and from the graves of Greeks in the Holy Trinity cemetery. Will the Commission say what action it will take to persuade FYROM to conform to standards of conduct befitting a genuine European country, particularly as that country is receiving generous funding through the PHARE programme and the European Investment Bank (EIB)?

The Commission has taken note of the events in the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia to which the Honourable Member refers, particularly the demolition of one of the country’s historic Greek monuments. Following contacts with the head of the liaison office of the Hellenic Republic in Skopje, through its resident envoy there, the Commission has been informed of the latter’s démarche vis-à-vis the FYROM authorities with regard to this bilateral matter.
Depending on whatever measures may be taken following these events, the Commission could consider reorienting ongoing Phare cultural activities to contribute to the preservation of the country’s Greek monuments, too. In future, however, no Phare funds will be earmarked for cultural projects.

Subject: Alteration of the cultural heritage in FYROM
Extensive alterations have reportedly been made recently to the architecture of the Church of Ayios Dimitrios in the town of Bitola (Monastir) in the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM), which clearly constitute alteration of the cultural heritage of that historical monument and of the region in general. Will the Commission say whether it is aware of this situation, what steps it intends to take to put an immediate end to these actions, and whether it has taken or intends to take any measures to protect the historical monuments and the cultural heritage in general in the Balkans?

The Commission thanks the Honourable Member for his question regarding the cultural heritage of the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM).
Unfortunately, it has been unable to obtain precise information relating to the church of Ayios Dimitrios, but, in general terms, the Commission would refer the Honourable Member to its reply to Written Question E-0077/99 submitted by Mr Kaklamanis, particularly the second paragraph (1).

Κρίνουμε σκόπιμο να παραθέσουμε ενδιαφέροντα Ιστορικά στοιχεία για αρκετά Μοναστήρια στην ΠΓΔΜ. Οι πληροφορίες είναι περιέχονται στο βιβλίο του Μιχάλη Χρυσανθόπουλου με τίτλο “Ο Ελληνισμός της “Δημοκρατίας των Σκοπίων” μέσα απο την τέχνη της Αγιογραφίας“.
Monastery of St Naum
In around 1806, the wall decoration inside was fulfilled by the “son of painter Konstantinos from Korytsa” who paint the folowing “Entrance to Jerusalem”, “Jesus Christ”, “Gathering of Archangels” “Theotokos” (all of them of course in greek language)
St Klemes
Around 1889 the painter Stephanos from Lazaropolis was called to paint the already dark wall paintings of the church. All his representations were in Greek of course.
Church of Archangel Michael in the vilage Radonja, Stusko
Here we have wall paintings of 13th c. (Archangel Michael) in Greek, made by the Greek iconographers of North Macedonia at the same period.
Church of St’ Nikolaos – Bolnicki – Ohrid
This church has wall paintings of 1313,1333,1345-46. They were painted by Chrostiras Michael and Eftichios and were finished by their students. All the icons are in Greek.
Church of Theotokos – Bolditska – Ohrid
Icons in Greek language from 14th and 15th centuries are found.
Old St Klemes Ohrid
This church was built by the priest Stephanos, as its visible from the greek inscription in the south entrance when the wall painting was done during 1378.
Small church of Aghioi Anargyroi
This church is found near the church of St’ Konstantinos and Eleni. It has icons of 14th century and in its south wall we can find paintings of St Klemes and the face of the archbishop of Ohrid Konstantinos Kavasillas. All the writings are in Greek.
Church of Aghia Theotokos Tselnitsa
This church has wall paintings of 14th c. and 19th c. which are the last of the iconographer Demetrios from Samarina of Epirus.
Church of St Konstantinos and Eleni – Ohrid
It has iconographies of 1477. The inscriptions are in Greek.
Theotokos i Pestrini – Ohrid
This church was built in 17th c. It has iconographies with the faces of Cyrillos and Methodios and St Athanasios. The painter as revealed by a related text of 19th c. is Emmanouel Georgiou.
Church of St Barbara – Raitsa Debar
It was built in 1592 and has iconographies signed by Stephanos of Mount Athos.
Monastery of St Ioannis bigorski
It has iconographies of 18th and 19th c. Especially you can find there iconographies of the Greek iconographer Demetrios of Samarina.
Church of St Nikolaos in the village Baros
This church was built most likely in 1298 from the Greek “Son of Kapzas” and his wife Maria, during the reign of Andronikos B’ – Michael IX. Everything is written in Greek.
Monaster of Archangel Michael in the village Baros
This monastery has a few snatches from 12th c. like “Jesus in front of Pilatus”, “H apokathilosis” who were owned by the monk Ioannis.
Church of St Nikolaos in the village Monastiri
In this village was initially built by Alexios, relative of Alexios Komnenos in 1095. The abbot Aakios called Ioannikos in 1266 and he built the church as it is now. The whole church is full of iconographies of the same era.
Monastery of Treskavets
There is a Greek insciption in the entrance where Byzantine emperors are being mentioned. It has iconographies of 14th, 15th until 19th c.
St Nikolaos Toplicki
It contains paintings of the famous iconographer Demetrios from Samaria of Epiros.
St Nikolaos in Slepce
Inside there is the icon of Panaghia i Triherousa with Greek inscriptions from unknown artist.
St Athanasios – Galitsani
There are iconographies of 1627, of the Greek iconographer Ionas from Kastoria.
St Demetrios – Mariovo
Iconographies of XIV c. in Greek.
St Demetrios – Monastiri
It was built in 1830 from Vlachs who settled in the area (40,000) after the destruction of Moschopolis in Epiros. We have iconographies of the same era in Greek.
